St. Paul Lutheran Church of Zelienople

This  committee  began  as  the Sunshine  Girls  years  ago  and  in  the  1980’s,  it  evolved  into  the  Willing  Workers.   The  group  currently  consists  of  12  active  members,  both  men  and  women.    The  Willing  Workers  and  20  or  more  volunteers  raise  anywhere  from  $2000  ‐ $5000  each  year  for  the  church.    Their  activities  include  hosting  community  dinners,  organizing  and  running  church  yard  sales,  lunches  and  dinners  for  Zelienople’s  annual  Horse  Trading  Days  week,  providing  funeral  dinners  and  receptions,  participating  in  the  Big  Knob  fair,  Food  Cupboard,  and  other  activities  requested  by  Pastor  Brewer  or  Council  members.    

There  is  a  lot  of  work  involved!   The  Willing  Workers  prepare  and  serve  food,  set  up  tables  and  chairs  for  lunches,  dinners,  sales,  and  also  clean  up!  But  with  all  the  volunteers  that  help,  these  events  run  very  smoothly.   Most  events  are  in  Strobel  Hall,  the  building  attached  to  St.  Paul  Lutheran  Church  used  for  many  other  activities,  including  meetings  and  musical  performances.  

And  all  that  work  is  well  worth  it!   With  money  we  have  earned  we  have  paid  off  church  loans  to  Lutheran  Extension.   And  thanks  to  the  Willing  Workers,  Strobel  Hall  has  received  new  front  doors,  remodeled  bathrooms,  and  air  conditioning.    In  2007,  the  church’s  organ  was  restored  and  the  Willing  Workers  donations  paid  for  a  portion  of  that  expense.   Our  Food  Cupboard,  another  St.  Paul  Lutheran  group,  also  receives  monetary  and  food  donations  from  the  Willing  Workers.  

All  are  welcome  to  be  a  part  of  the  Willing  Workers  committee!  Men,  women  and  teens  are  always  needed.   It  may  sound  like  a  lot  of  work,  but  the  members  truly  enjoy  visiting  with  friends  and  getting  to  know  new  members  through  these  activities.
